When Jamie Morgan's husband posted the story on the Internet about how Jamie had managed to lose 96 kilograms to become a competition figure, he did not know how much of a stir this would cause.

"I was eating more than normal due to my emotional issues and that was leading me down a dark and depressed path, strange to me."


In 20016, after she lost her job, a friend told her that she thought she was depressed and needed help.


"I needed to attack this depression to achieve emotional and physical health ," he tells us.

"6 months in therapy showed me that there could be a relationship between food and my emotions," explains Jamie.


"I began to want to move and to worry about my body, noticing the things I was feeding it."


In his childhood, Jamie always associated food with comfort and love and never worried about portion sizes and nutrients in food.


This was the first step to solve, so he looked for a good nutritionist to learn how to eat in a healthy and positive way for the body.

"I fell in love with exercise and training."


At first she was ashamed of her figure, making it hard to get into the gym.


To remove this obstacle, Jamie began training at home until she felt comfortable stepping on a gym .


In it, I spend most of my time doing cardio , until a friend recommended that she try some TRX classes.


After a couple of classes, Jamie hired a personal trainer, whom he worked with a few days a week, "she helped me feel more confident about my body and the things I could do."


When he weighed around 200 pounds, Jamie was asked by a competition figure if he had ever thought about racing.


She laughed at first, knowing that she would never feel comfortable wearing a two-piece bikini on stage while everyone was watching her.


But this idea stayed around in his mind and in November 2020 - with 20 kg more weight than he is currently - he told his coach that he wanted to compete.

So he began to train heavier, performing traditional strength routines, bodyweight exercises , kettlebells, and abdominal exercises .


She had another friend who trained bodybuilders , who helped her with her nutrition and the rest of the pieces of the puzzle to get her shot up for the competition.


"People in my gym started noticing the things I was doing and they started offering to help me," she tells us.


Jamie entered his first tournament on October 18 of this year weighing 71 kg, 4 years after starting his weight loss journey .


Despite not winning - and she knows she had some points deducted for excess skin - Jamie says the experience has been fantastic and she looks forward to learning more about competing in her next entry on November 22.


“The key to losing all this weight without extreme diets , pills, or crazy routines were small changes, which I maintained over the years,” reveals Jamie, “I couldn't have gone from 0 to 100 and been successful.


The success is not linear and can not be measured on a scale, it is always be progressing , "Jamie reveals. "Sometimes success was to complete the plan of food for the day or drink all the water that was." tells us.
